David Limbaugh published a very interesting article yesterday, "Obama: Not the 'Post-', but 'Most' Racial President." It was a fascinating list of the ways in which President Obama has set back the cause of race relations in our country rather than promote the harmony and joining together of Americans that he promised in the 2008 election. It's a very good article, and pretty enlightening to see specific things he has done gathered in one place. It's actually a little surprising we aren't in an all out race war from his irresponsibility in this matter.
Of course the same can be said about his political "harmony." It was clear early in his administration that President Obama's idea of bringing the parties together was for the opposing party to support him and do everything he says. This is one of those glaring examples of his inexperience in leadership. A good leader brings out the strengths of others, allows them to use their strengths and shine individually and as a group. A poor leader is all about himself, his causes, what he wants, his vacations, how he looks, and the heck with anyone else. His arrogance and self-importance appears to increase exponentially on a weekly basis, yet his reasons for pride are dwindling to the point his main accomplishment now appears to be simply that he's the first Black President ..... hardly a post-racial statement since it focused entirely on his race.
I keep reflecting on the 2008 primary speech that Hillary Clinton gave in Rhode Island ....
That still makes me laugh.
Interestingly enough most Americans want to see the races get along, Republicans and Democrats work together, and an end to hunger and want. Sadly we have a President who can best be described as a snake oil salesman ... he said lots of things on the campaign trail that promised he could help achieve these things, but ultimately the only promise he has kept has been to "fundamentally change" our country .... back to civil rights era anxiety, the systematic dismantling the most successful economic system in the world where citizens are allowed to keep the fruits of their labors, and blatant, open corruption that is usually only seen in Chicago.
